Patient History

Female - 42 years old - 170 cm - 65 kg.

Several imaging tests including mammography and ultrasound failed to identify the primary tumor.

Acquisition

Scanner: GE Discovery ST

PET acquisition: Whole-body acquisition

  • 3D acquisition using VUE Point HD reconstruction –256 x 256 matrix
  • Acquisition time: 3 min/bed
  • Post-injection time: 50 min
  • Dose: 319 MBq of 18F-FDG

CT acquisition: CT Attenuation Correction

  • Whole-body acquisition
  • Smart mA
  • Auto mA: min 30 - Max 130mA - NI 30

Findings

                        

                      Whole-body static image –
                      Highlight of hypermetabolic
                      lesions in the left breast

             

CT and fused coronal views of the breast hypermetabolic lesion

             

CT and fused axial views of a small hypermetabolic internal mammary node

Multiple hypermetabolic uptakes of 18F-FDG in the right and left axillar
nodes, right cervical nodes and internal mammary nodes involvment.

Single area of hypermetabolic uptake of 18F-FDG in the
inner lower lateral left breast.

Conclusion

Patient with palpable lymph nodes in the left and right axilla.

18F-FDG PET identified a hypermetabolic lesion in the breast.
