Reshape the mammography experience

At GE Healthcare, we believe it’s time to improve the entire mammography experience. So we partnered with radiologists, technologists and patients to create a mammography platform that’s sensitive to each of their needs:

  • easing patient anxieties
  • making technologists’ jobs easier and
  • helping radiologists diagnose with great confidence

The result of our rigorous, collaborative design process is the Senographe Pristina™.

An attractive and well-designed gantry

Senographe Pristina was designed to ease patient anxiety when they enter the exam room.

  • The new, inviting gantry promotes a sense of calm, with elegant lighting and gentle, rounded shapes.
  • A soft-curved surface invites patients into a space of comfort and support.

You’ll need to experience it to truly realize what it can do for you.

Empowering patients

GE is offering patients a new experience when it comes to breast compression. Guided by technologist supervision, patients can now help to reach the compression that is right for them. The new self-compression feature enables patients to help manage their exam experience, reducing potential anxiety when it comes to breast exams.

A clear diagnosis at a low dose

Senographe Pristina’s integrated 3D mammography provides an exceptionally sharp and detailed picture for breast cancer detection and diagnosis – at the same radiation dose as standard 2D mammography.

Rethinking patient comfort

Senographe Pristina helps ensure that patients are comfortable during their exam.

  • Patients can comfortably lean their heads on the face shield, even while the system is acquiring 3D mammogram.
  • The soft arm rests have replaced the typical hand grips. So rather than tensing muscles to hold a hand grip, patients can rest their arm comfortably on the arm rest and relax their muscles, which can simplify compression and image acquisition.

The gentle, rounded corners of the bucky may reduce anxiety and discomfort for patients as well.

Patient comfort easing positioning

Anxious patients are more prone to moving and contracting muscles, creating challenges for technologists to position them appropriately. By making patients more comfortable during the exam, technologists can focus on more suitable positioning, enabling a faster and smoother experience for both the patient and the technologist.

A new design to avoid physical strain

Making it easy for technologists to position patients is critical to improving the overall mammography experience for both patients and technologists.
The Senographe Pristina was designed with this in mind.

  • The upper space below the collimator is large, and the tube design with the wrap-over top makes it easy for technologists to position patients.
  • The back space is large enough to allow technologists to work without hitting their elbows when positioning the breast over the support.
  • When positioning patients in medio lateral oblique (MLO), the tube head can be moved to a parked position away from the technologist’s head. This clears the upper space so that the technologist can position the patient without physical strain.
  • The system allows technologists to position patients while facing them, allowing for better communication throughout the exam.

Reinventing the mammography experience to make the technologist’s job easier

The system was designed to simplify technologists’ daily work.

  • The console and gantry are ready to use within a few minutes after startup, without requiring any calibration before starting the day.
  • The change from 2D to 3D mode can be made with one click, with pre-set default acquisition.
  • The 2D image contrast can be modified on the fly, among six levels available, to accommodate user preferences.
  • The acquisition console is well-aligned with other GE Healthcare products, so that the learning curve is minimal for those familiar with other GE Healthcare equipment.

Senographe Pristina’s 3D mammography delivers exceptional image quality at the same dose as standard 2D mammography.

Pristine images for accurate diagnoses

Senographe Pristina sets the bar high for diagnostic confidence and performance, leveraging the Senographe family’s widely recognized image quality.

Making healthier choices

3D mammography platform allows for excellent visualization of breast lesions without increasing the radiation dose compared to a 2D mammography acquisition of the same view.

  • GE’s 3D tomosynthesis uses ASIRDBT, an iterative reconstruction algorithm with a calcification artifact correction.
  • ASIRDBT delivers off-plane images, far superior to the traditional Filtered Back Projection (FBP) algorithm in terms of both in-plane and out-of-plane artifacts.
  • A specific slabbing algorithm renders calcifications as if each were in its optimal plane, making the images easy to read.
